Capture Change Data with the SDI Flowgraph Table Comparison

When batch-loading data from a source system into your Data Mart or Data Warehouse, you usually look for ways to reduce the to-be extracted data set to minimize extraction time and resource consumption. Ideally, there is a way to only extract changed records, for example, using a change date column. However, this does not always fly. For example, change date columns are not always reliable or deletions are not always tracked in the source table. An alternative would be to switch from batch to log or trigger replication on the source, but you don’t always have this luxury. So, now you have to load the entire source data set, but still you want to identify the change data, to only process delta’s in downstream data flows. How can you identify such change data using batch loading?

How to free Hana System on Public Cloud from I/O performance issue?

How to free Hana System on Public Cloud from I/O performance issue?

Apart from memory, storage performance plays a major role in safeguarding HANA performance. Storage system used for SAP HANA in TDI environments must full fill a certain set of KPIs for minimum data throughput and maximum latency time for Hana data and log volume. Cloud vendor need to pass the KPI checked using HWCCT (Hardware Configuration Check Tool) for SAP to certify their cloud platform to run SAP HANA. The reason is to safeguard customer HANA system from any possible I/O performance that’ll lead to performance degradation up to system standstill and irresponsive.

Secure your HANA Cloud Connector with OpenSSL certificates – Part 2

In part 1 of this blog series, I showed how to secure your SCC with a trusted UI Certificate:

Secure your HANA Cloud Connector with OpenSSL certificates – Part 2

Therefore, in this blog, I will show how to further secure your SCC with a trusted System Certificate, put your CA certificate in the Trust Store, install a SCC CA Certificate and with that enable Principal Propagation.

A first attempt at using HANA Cloud Integration to integrate Workday and Salesforce

Starting to do some research on this idea, I ran across an article about a recent agreement between Workday and Salesforce:
Under a technical agreement and go-to-market strategy, Salesforce and Workday will do the following:
  • Salesforce will standardize on Workday's applications.
  • Workday will standardize on Salesforce's applications and platform.
  • Workday will integrate Salesforce with Workday's human capital management software, financials and big data analytics software.
  • Salesforce will integrate Workday into Chatter and other applications. [SOURCE]
Then, I had an even more amusing thought – “What about a Workday – Salesforce integration”.

Since the Eclipse-based software for HCI is already available, I decided to see how far I could get with my nefarious – no - heretical plan.

[SAP HANA Academy] SAP HANA Cloud Integration for Data Services

In a series of 14 videos the SAP HANA Academy's  Tahir Hussain "Bob" Babar shows how to preform the most common SAP HANA Cloud Integration for Data Services tasks. SAP HANA Cloud Integration (HCI) is SAP's strategic integration platform for SAP Cloud customers. HCI provides out-of-the-box connectivity across cloud and on-premise solutions. Beneath the real-time process integration capabilities HCI also contains a data integration part that allows efficient and secure usage of extract, transform and load (ETL) tasks to move data between on-premise systems and the cloud.

Bob's 14 tutorial videos are linked below with accompanying synopses. Please watch the videos here or on the SAP HANA Academy's HCI-DS playlist.
