Here I have selected HANA STUDIO, HANA CLIENT and HANA SERVER. But for the HANA DB Update we need only HANA SERVER component.
Download it through Download Manager:
Once downloaded transfer the HANA server file to respective HANA server
Prepare the SAP HANA packages for installation or update
Download “hdblcm_prepare.sh” script from SAP Note#2078425 and place in the same folder where you have put the Patch for upgrade then do the following as user “root”:
./hdblcm_prepare.sh
Check the Preparation log for any issue
“hdblcm_prepare.sh” script will extract the relevant file in the subfolder “extracted” and making sure that SIGNATURE.SMF file will not get overwritten for different patches.
HANA DB Upgrade (Verification step)
- Stop all backend SAP systems which are connected to HANA DB.
- Verifying the current version of HANA DB
- Verifying the Replication status
Note–Here in this case no replication is running. So this blog is not underlining any pre or post steps to deactivate and reactivate the replication of SAP HANA DB respectively.
- Check the status of the Latest Backup and make sure that you have successful backup before you start with HANA Upgrade through HANA Studio
HANA DB Upgrade (Execution step)
Start HANA DB upgrade with HDBLCM through following command:
./hdblcm –component_root=/media/hana_sp12/extracted
Once the Upgrade completed one need to verify the latest version through HANA Studio
Start the SAP application and then through ST04 transaction one can verify from there also the latest version of HANA DB version
