View for external Access (The ‘8’ View) for aDSOs in BW/4HANA 2.0 Mixed modelling

In this blog post, I would focus on some of the key aspects of the generated view for external access  or the external SAP HANA SQL View for aDSOs in BW/4HANA 2.0 by a use case scenario. The view is generated with naming convention as following : /BIC (namespace)/A<technical name of the aDSO>8.

We are all well familiar with the below generated tables of aDSOs : (depending on the type of particular aDSO they are relevant)

/BIC/A<technical name of the aDSO>1 : Inbound Table for aDSO.

/BIC/A<technical name of the aDSO>2 : Active Data Table for aDSO.

/BIC/A<technical name of the aDSO>3 : Change Log Table for aDSO.

Create CKF (Calculated Key Figure in SAP HANA / BW Query / Eclipse BW Query)

We have a requirement to create Total overtime hours in a report. This is calculated by a formula as we have the normal regular hours + overtime hours in 2 separate fields. We need to either do it in a Webi report ( report side) or in the BW Query which is sitting on a composite provider.. I choose to do it on the data target end as its much better to do it in the BW query, where the values will be ready before the webi report fetches them.

The simplification of object types in SAP BW/4HANA has an impact on authorisation objects. When converting a SAP BW system to a SAP BW/4HANA, authorizations for object types that are not available in SAP BW/4HANA (like InfoCubes) must be replaced by authorizations for corresponding object types (like ADSO).

Apache Hadoop as NLS solution for BW/HANA Part 2

For part 1 : Apache Hadoop as NLS solution for SAP HANA Part 1

After searching the internet for hours and days, trying to figure out the HANA and Hadoop integration process, I realized that there are a number of articles out there that talk about the Why’s the What’s and the Who’s of the process but not many have delved into the “How” aspect of it. So here is my humble attempt.

Apache Hadoop as NLS solution for SAP HANA Part 1

Introduction:

Apache Hadoop has become the poster child for big data largely due to its high scalability analytics platform capable of processing large volumes of structured and unstructured data. SAP HANA on the other hand, has gained ground as the leading in memory data analytics platform that lets you accelerate business processes and deliver quantifiable business intelligence at lightening speed. Both these database platforms are independent of each other and have pros and cons which make them a perfect fit for a long term sustainable high performance data lake strategy for any large multinational corporation.
